The
official language of the journal is English.
Papers should be sent in duplicate to the
Editor, Professor Ruth Taplin, Director,
Centre for Japanese and East Asian Studies,
PO Box 427, Pinner, HA5 3FX, UK (Tel: 020
8429 2839; Fax: 020 8429 9236; Email: Ruth.Taplin@btinternet.com
), along with an abstract of about
200 words. Authors should aim to make their
papers understandable to those in other
disciplines and wherever possible, mathematical
arguments, when they cannot be avoided,
should be banished to an appropriate appendix.
Although the conventional journal length
article will be the norm, short papers,
comments, letters, news items, book reviews,
pre conference and post conference information
will also be welcome.
Manuscripts
and accompanying illustrations must be in
a form ready for publication. Material will
be accepted for review on the understanding
that it has not been submitted for publication
elsewhere and the author’s copyright
will be transferred to the publisher in
the event of the publication. Manuscripts
should be typed in double spacing on one
side of good quality paper with wide margins.
The pages should be of uniform size (preferably
A4 size) and numbered consecutively. Double
spacing should also be used for abstracts,
references and footnotes. The manuscripts
should not contain more than a few minor
corrections. It is the responsibility of
the author(s) to obtain any permission necessary
to reproduce or quote from published work(s);
suitable acknowledgement should always be
made. Unpublished manuscripts or letters
are also protected.
Titles
and Sub Titles should be typed on a separate
line without indentation in capitals and
lower case. They should not be underlined.
Long titles and superfluous capitals should
be avoided. Any instruction to the copy
editor or printer should be encircled. The
following order should normally be used:
First
page: title, author(s), name(s), affiliation(s);
present address(es) of author(s). In the
case of multi-authored works, the full address
of the person to whom proofs are to be sent
should be given (and clearly indicated)
at the bottom of the first page.
Second page: abstract.
Third page: text etc.
Illustrations (figures): figures submitted
must be of high quality for direct reproduction.
Line drawings should be in Indian or black
ink drawn if possible at twice their final
intended size. All symbols and lettering
should be included in a style consistent
with the text. They should be unmounted,
not folded and numbered in arabic numerals
according to their sequence in the text.
The identification should be given lightly
on the reverse of each illustration by its
number and the name(s) of the author(s).
Each figure should have a caption. All captions
should be typed on a separate sheet included
with the manuscript.
Footnotes should be only used if it is impossible
to incorporate the information in the main
body of the text. If used they should be
identified by subscript numerals and kept
short.
References:
if an author is cited in the text a date
should follow in brackets and the full details
should be given in a reference list in alphabetical
order at the end of the text. An exact page
reference should be given in the text for
verbatim quotations. Multiple entries by
an author or set of authors in the same
year should be post scripted a, b, c, (1994a,
1994b, 1994c) etc. The list of references
should follow the customary conventions.
Proofs
will be sent to the authors for correction
and should be returned within the requested
time (by airmail if necessary). Author’s
alterations in excess of 10% of the typesetting
cost will be charged. The Editor reserves
the right to publish a paper without the
author’s own corrections in cases
of undue delay in returning proofs.
Papers
submitted to the Journal of Interdisciplinary
Economics are refereed.
